The Battle of Pulang Lupa is one of the most significant events in the history of the island province of Marinduque. Proving to be a rare occurrence for Filipinos to win against the American inquisitors, the event indeed served as an inspiration for the Filipinos on their unending fight for freedom. Not only did the event become significant to the Marinduquenos, it also left a mark on Philippine history itself.


As the event went, fearlessness and homegrown strength played a major role in the infamous battle that happened in the municipality of Torrijos. With these, the Filipinos emerged victorious against the Americans.


According to history, Col. Maximo Abadโ€™s men surrounded and incapacitated the American forces right from the beginning of the battle. Gaining confidence that the enemyโ€™s strength had drastically weakened, they started flanking them until they had no other places to run to.

With this method, the Filipino Revolutionary Forces indeed demonstrated their might, forcing the enemies to submit and surrender. This tactic left an invaluable imprint on the American soldiersโ€™ resolve as they witnessed the Filipinos' display of true strength.


As you, dear Marinduqueรฑo, go on about your day, keep in your heart and mind how the efforts of our forefathers provided us not only the freedom we so desired but also the lands that were forcibly taken from us. With their sacrifices, we now stand on the same ground they had fought for and died in. We are what we are today because of the legacy they left us and the might they demonstrated against the imperialists. โ˜…
