For the record, I’m not into sports. I tried basketball and volleyball when I was a kid, but my abilities didn’t make the cut. I came to the sad conclusion that it wasn’t for me and I gave it all up. So when It came to announcements or anything sports-related, I didn’t care. However, when the School of Liberal Arts’ Basketball Men team were playing, I had to show up to support for my friends who were players. After watching, astonishingly, I actually enjoyed watching. My classmates in AB English, Efraim Diaz and John Rex Cajontoy, being in the match, piqued my Interest, all the more that I haven’t been following the sport for a while. Our team, Liberales coached by Sir Raymond Bagtas, was going up against Alpha Gaea of Agriculture and Fisheries. The rules of the game were a bit hazy for me, since I had little care for the sport, but the fight’s intense nature kept me on the edge of the bench. In the first quarter, the School of Business and Management had immediately released their trump cards, leading with a score of 19 to 27. During the second quarter, Eric Jimena gave his all by buying three points in the match, this year being his last in this school. Throughout the match, Liberales’ plays kept the Alpha Gaeas on edge. Sadly, it wasn’t enough to keep up, with a score of 31 to 53 and then came the second half were the SLA pushed themselves to their limits to best their opponents. Still, after all their efforts, they lost to the SBM with a final score of 59 to 93. Even after that, my admiration for our team never wavered as they left the game with acceptance and humble smiles on their faces. Sometimes, the only thing that you can do is smile at you misfortunes and keep moving forward
